Hello youth and fellow members of Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church! It’s me Jordanelle! I wanted to start a little church blog, so we can work on greater communication between the youth and the greater church community.
From my personal experience growing up in the church I always felt when I was younger that my opinions were less important than the adults, however the opinions of our youth are the most important. Our youth are not only the future of the church, but they are also smart. I think it’s important to listen to all our voices and ideas. It is what will make us stronger. Especially in these struggling times and turns in communication and how we do church it is important to stay connected.
How can we stay connected?
That is the easy part. This blog is one way to stay connected. If you have something to say, please let Jordanelle know, as she wants to incorporate everyone’s voices into this blog. We all hold different messages from God and life, and ALL are important.
Also, the youth are currently participating in the “Painted Rocks” event. Please join in the fun! It is a great way to brighten someone’s day, work on a project, and stay connected with your church and extended community. Check out some of the amazing rocks around the church and will be traveling soon. It’s so cool how simple this project is and yet how powerful it can be!
Another way to stay connected is by coming to church or giving a call or text to a member of the church, we just updated our directory—thanks a ton Hope—so now you have everyone’s newest information.
FOR PARENTS AND YOUTH:
We want to get our youth moving and acting. We want to bring them together and do some fun activities. Among other activities, we are planning a December movie night for the youth. Our groups for this event will be 5-11 years old and 12-18 years old.
For the 12-18 group we have 2 surveys for you. We want to hear from you and learn how your schedules are filling up and where we can find time to get you all together. So, we are asking all our 12–18-year-old members to take this survey before DECEMBER 1st so we can get these activities rolling. Parents it will be sent to your email please have your youth ages 12-18 take this survey!
I am so excited to be bringing together our youth with a kinds of fun activities and I am excited at the prospect of being able to share all kinds of information with you all in the future.
However, this is all I got for you for now! Have a Great Week!!! ~ Jordanelle Mugridge
